Zone-heavy Brantford Red Sox win back to back I-C Championships
For the second consecutive year, and third time in four seasons, the Brantford Red Sox have won the Inter-County Baseball Championship. The Red Sox won the title 4 games to 0, winning game 4 in extra innings. It was the third extra inning game of the championship, which included a 20 inning marathon in game three in Barrie.
The Red Sox have a long-standing relationship with The Baseball Zone, starting with its VP of Baseball Operations and The Baseball Zone co-founder, Rick Johnston. In 2003, Johnston was brought in by team owner Paul Aucoin to revive the franchise and since that time the Red Sox have been to the I-C finals 5 times in 7 seasons – an amazing accomplishment. Also, Manager Adam Clarke and pitcher Brad Hogeterp (both also 3-time winners) are currently Instructors at The Baseball Zone and have been so for many years. Additionally, several of the Red Sox other players have been valuable members of the instructional team at The Zone over the years.
Job well done to everyone! Good luck "three-peating" in 2010!!!
