Hitting: "GOOD MECHANICS"? IS THERE SUCH A THING?
Yes, we believe so. The problem is many coaches' views on mechanics are simply whatever pleases that particular coach's eye - but the eyes only see what the eyes want to see!! Or some teach what they were taught years ago without really understanding "why". There are some coaches who just want to put their signature on players. Even worse, years of random, disorganized information can lead coaches into such directions as teaching kids poor actions of the body, downward swing routes that try to promote back spin or "squishing the bug" to get the hips rotating. This type of teaching only serves to literally suck the energy out of the hitter. We are not saying that these coaches are evil and trying to make you worse. If there is a coach like that, we have yet to meet them. But there is simply not one singular way to teach every hitter how to hit and to find each individual's "good mechanics". And further to this, each hitter needs to get from "good mechanics" to "efficient mechanics".
SO WHAT DOES EVERY HITTER WANT????????? IT IS SIMPLE!!!!
- POWER IMPROVEMENT
- IMPROVED BAT SPEED
- BALL EXIT SPEED
- HITTING DISTANCE
- CONSISTENCY
- MORE EFFICIENT SWING
So, you are the hitter, you want to increase and enhance your hitting power, raise your batting average, hit rockets to all fields, cut down on your strikeouts, get the most out of your body... if the answer is YES... start by reading and begin to understand key essentials to improving all aspects of hitting... So you want more... YOU want to achieve "Efficient Mechanics"!!!
Hit it farther - Then hit it harder... get the most out your body... you are not going to finesse it into the gaps or out of the park... let it go!!!
Bat Speed - Crucial when measuring power and swing efficiently... increase it!!!
Rhythm, Timing and Blending - Many hitters have a good swing off the tee and can't transform this power into facing front toss, BP or "Live" pitching. We will always combine the concepts of technique, timing and blending, even when you’re just hitting off a tee. What is "blending"? It is the concept by which the hitter can bridge the gap from the good mechanics they show off the tee to more game-like situations.
Explosive Energy - Many hitters don't have what we refer to as "explosive" energy. The only way to improve this explosiveness is to train to be more explosive... GET STRONGER!!!
Connection With Sequence - With proper Sequence and Connection between the barrel and spine, the hitter can create the proper whip and snap from the barrel into the ball as opposed to into the air.
Getting Ready - All great hitters have some type of movement back, but what's most important is the spring loading of energy being maximized at the right time so that it can be transferred to the ball at the right time... When you need to be there, you had better be there!!!
Swing Plane - You want to hit the ball more consistently? You better learn to get the barrel on the path of the pitch. The longer the hitter is able to stay on the path of the incoming pitch, the better chance they will have to make square contact!
Coach, I have 20/20 Vision - That is well and nice, but many people like doctors, lawyers, teachers, tradesmen, etc. have 20/20 vision... Does this make them a better hitter? We don't think so... But does good vision help a hitter? WITHOUT QUESTION! It may be the single most critical area of hitting. Think for moment how hitting ready works - The eyes get the information, which happens in milliseconds. That information is then transferred to the brain. The motor pathways of the brain then send critical information to the body, the body must then react. This all happens in a split second time frame. Did you know that Major League hitters are effectively "blind" the last 15 feet of ball travel? You had better make sure your "hitter's vision" is 20/20 before the pitch hits your blind spot!
SO YOU THINK HITTING IS STILL EASY???
NOW THE X FACTORS... DO YOU HAVE IT??? What are the X FACTORS??? Read On...
Many hitters just don't have the x factors because they don't quite know they exist or what they are. Somewhere within their minds and bodies they are present... we will guide you through this process of discovery.
X FACTOR #1: GOAL - the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.
X FACTOR #2: INTENT - something that is intended; purpose; design; intention.
The goal and intent for creating and maximizing hitting power is absolutely crucial. Most hitters don't have the right intent when swinging during training or game time. We don't learn to hit harder and farther by hitting softer.
NOW ARE YOU READY TO START BECOMING A BETTER HITTER???
ARE YOU READY FOR YOUR OWN PATH OF "GUIDED DISCOVERY"???
ARE YOU READY TO FIND YOUR OWN "EFFICIENT MECHANICS"???
