The Baseball Zone High Performance Position Player Clinic Ages 13-Plus

High Performance Program for position players is very similar in the approach we take for the High Performance Pitching Program. It is intense, gruelling and demanding in all aspects of training. The program begins with a series of functional warm ups to warm up the body and prepare it for the work at hand. It is the criticalness of the warm up that permits the body to recruit the necessary muscles and energy system for what will take place. Position players will then shift their focus of training to offense, where a functional strength circuit will become paramount for the development of efficient, repeatable movement patterns associated with hitting. This functional circuit is designed around periodization, insofar as each five week period is designated to deliver functional exercises based around strength (farther away from competition) then speed & power (closer to competition). As each athlete completes the circuit, they move into a series of hitting stations with each station designed to perform a specific task from self toss, to blending, momentum, rotation and swing plane. Following the offensive tasks and circuits, players will move to the throwing protocols of the program which will include aspects of what the pitchers will fashion. From here they move into position work, with the task of all athletes becoming more athletic for quicker, more responsive and efficient movements. The key to development is preparing the body so that actions that do occur in practice and game are responsive, calculated and efficient and can be translated to the field. We want all players to be fully prepared for the battle ground out on the field.
