Featured Athlete - Adam Kudryk
This week's player of the week is a familiar face at The Baseball Zone/SST, His name is Adam Kudryk.
Adam first came to us as an 18 yr old who was looking to obtain a college scholarship. There was only one problem; Adam was sitting at 76-78 mph, well below college standards. Adam, in a full year of training, was able to get his velocity up to 86-88 mph, and was able to obtain a college scholarship.
Adam started off very strong and in his second year was considered to be the staff ace. He had increased his velocity from 88mph to 91mph and was anticipated to be drafted by an MLB club that coming June. The news unfortunately took a turn for the worse from there.
As the season went on Adam started to experience shoulder soreness, an MRI later revealed a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. This injury required surgery and a minimum of 12 months recovery with no guarantees.
When Adam returned to us we suggested he start SST right away, and he did. We are now 16 months after surgery and are pleased to report Adam is 86 mph from the mound and has done a step-behind at an astonishing 93 mph!! We are currently working on bridging the gap from his step-behind to the mound, and with his dedication and our help we believe he can get there.
Coming back from an injury like this can be trying (mentally and physically) at times and Adam has taken it in stride. We are extremely proud of Adam's hard work and determination. We will continue to assist him in reaching his goal of furthering his college career and playing professional baseball.
Congratulations Adam!
Sincerely,
All Staff
